The ALFA project successfully concluded the second round of Open Calls! We extend our gratitude to all applicants who took the time to submit their projects and share their vision for advancing livestock farming and biogas technology.
The ALFA project aims to support livestock and biogas initiatives by providing hands-on market uptake services tailored to their specific needs. The second round of Open Calls, which ran from November 1st, 2024, to January 31st, 2025 (after an extension) saw great response from a diverse range of applicants. These projects will now undergo an evaluation process to ensure that the most impactful and innovative initiatives receive the necessary support.
The second round of Open Calls attracted applications from across Europe and beyond, with a total of 34 applicants from 11 countries. The variety of participants showcases the growing interest in sustainable biogas and livestock farming solutions.
Demographic Insights:
- Country representation: Applicants originate mainly from ALFA’s Hubs (i.e., Belgium, Spain, Greece, Slovakia, Italy, and Denmark), but we also had individual awardees from the Netherlands, Portugal, Ukraine, Ethiopia, and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

- Farmer/Livestock Associations & Cooperatives: 7 applications

- CEOs, Managers, Technical Directors, Researchers, and Consultants actively engaged in the biogas and livestock farming ecosystem.
What’s Next?
The evaluation phase will assess the applications based on transparent selection criteria, ensuring that the most promising projects receive tailored market uptake support. The selected projects will benefit from:
- Hands-on market uptake support services, including both business and technical services, tailored to the applicant’s needs
- Capacity-building activities
- Regional awareness-raising campaigns
